Dear Friends:
Hard to believe we are in only our 4th year of operation in Baton Rouge and cut our third red ribbon today to celebrate the opening of our new facility on Sherwood Forest Boulevard. The community turned out in force this morning in support of our ribbon cutting ceremony led by Mayor Broome, Deputy Police Chief Robert McGarner, New Schools Baton Rouge’s Chris Meyer, BESE Board Member and City Year’s Executive Director Jada Lewis, and many others. It was a very exciting and high energy morning led by cheers from City Year corp members, and our very own elementary drumline.
With this new facility, GEO Prep Academy will be able to serve nearly 600 students this year in grades K-6. It was great to see the entire staff from GEO Prep Academy as well as GEO Prep Mid City turn out in support of this celebration. Both schools were lauded by our special guests as among the best in Baton Rouge and making a serious contribution to improving lives in the capital city.
Let’s keep changing the world together!
Sincerely,
Kevin Teasley
