Our students succeed every day and every year. I've received reports from my Gary school this month saying that 91% of our seniors have earned one and/or two years of college already and/or career certifications before they graduate in May. We already boast the highest graduation rate in the city (97%), too (compared to 57% for the city's traditional school).

Nearly 100% of GEO students are from families in need, so imagine the joy I experienced when I received these pictures above of our students and staff giving back to their communities.

Every year, we challenge our students to do more than high school while in our high schools. We don't require them to take college or career classes, but we make college and career classes available to all our students. And, we don't place any limits on how many of these classes they can take.

Two of the students pictured above are attorneys today. Three are teachers. One is an executive for the NCAA. One is the chief design engineer for Microsoft. Seventy-five percent of these students earned their bachelor's within four years of graduating from our high school--that's six times the national average.
